Why is LN Tallur redefining the intersection of tradition and technology?

Nature Morte presents LN Tallur: Neti-Neti – Glitch in the Code, on view from October 17 to December 1, 2024, marking the artist’s fifth solo show with the gallery and the first at the Dhan Mill space in New Delhi.

The exhibition showcases a range of new bronze sculptures alongside mixed-media works inspired by artificial intelligence, digital systems, and human belief structures. Titles such as Fire Wall, Code Keepers, Data Weave, Digital Sage, and Deep Learning reflect Tallur’s fascination with how ancient forms meet modern algorithms.

Exploring the Code Within

Through these works, Tallur transforms traditional Asian sculptural motifs into contemporary forms that explore moral, philosophical, and technological paradoxes. A key highlight, Deep Learning PI (Portable Intelligence), catalogs two decades of collaboration with Nature Morte. In this piece, Tallur “trains” artificial intelligence to reinterpret his own practice, blurring the line between creator and creation.

Born in Karnataka in 1971, LN Tallur has exhibited globally — with solo shows in Germany, South Korea, India, China, and the United States. His major exhibitions include Interference Fringe at Grounds for Sculpture (New Jersey, 2020) and Chirag-e-Al at the Museum of Art & Photography (Bangalore, 2023). His works are also part of permanent installations in Mumbai, Stuttgart, and Bangalore.
